It bothers me greatly when I hear people complain about how bad they think some property managers are. That’s why I want to help managers improve their skills and investors increase their return on investment and the value of their real estate assets.
I turned to writing and became a published author so I could tell stories about real experiences and mistakes made in order to help others learn from them the way I did through the years. My goal was to make Management Makeover – The Ultimate Guide to Maximizing Your Property Management Income an entertaining and interesting training tool. I don’t like boring. You’ll have to tell me if I accomplished that goal.
I grew up on a small farm in Colorado. There, my parents instilled upon me the work ethic that has encompassed my entire life. I did my share of hard work and excelled in school. I took this strong work ethic to college with me and into my professional career where hard work and the willingness to learn and adapt are keys to success.
I care about people. I am cheerful and calm. I enjoy solving problems and helping fulfill the needs of clients.
My real estate management career began in the 1980s in Boulder, Colorado, working with a multi-million dollar real estate asset management company and then later with a nationally recognized real estate investment firm. I am experienced in asset management, sales and marketing, leisure and hospitality, mortgage, finance and insurance, construction and design, acquisition due diligence, disposition of assets, financial budgeting and reengineering.
Multi-state clients have included banks; a national real estate firm owned by a ’Fortune 500 company’; owners of small and large apartment communities, commercial office space, executive hotel suites, retail businesses, manufactured home communities and RV resorts; and community and homeowners associations.
With mixed portfolio experience and skills covering the financial, legal, social, economic and physical areas essential to property performance, the following are how I have helped clients:
- Reengineered/streamlined operations resulting in the clean-up and profitable turnaround of poorly performing real estate assets,
- Created operational management plans and budgets for existing assets and for new subdivisions and condominium conversions,
- Accomplished profitable dispositions of property and developed comprehensive studies for acquisitions and redevelopment of land,
- Created and implemented policies and procedures,
- Developed sales divisions, created and implemented sales and marketing programs, including design of new websites, website search engine optimization and social media, and
- Improved customer satisfaction.
I hold the Institute of Real Management’s coveted CERTIFIED PROPERTY MANAGER® designation and I am a Licensed Florida Real Estate Broker, Community Association Manager, and Mortgage Loan Originator.
